Heat transfer
Brief description
High-boiling, low to medium viscous heat carrier with high thermal stability for heating and cooling as a liquid or in vapour phase in an inert gas atmosphere.
Product group
Organic heat transfer
Product name
Diphyl
Manufacturer
LANXESS Deutschland GmbH, Leverkusen
Application
Organic heat transfer liquids are used everywhere, where precise temperature control is required, as in the production and processing of plastics, synthetic fibres and rubber. Especially in the important polyester industry (manufacturing and processing of PET, e.g. in fibres and bottles) these heat carriers are essential. They also play an important role in the synthesis of chemicals (formaldehyde and PSA for instance). Besides the traditional areas, there are always new and interesting applications in process technology (e.g. in solar power plants or ORC processes in biomass power plants), which are important to the future.
