Silicone products
Since 1948, KURT OBERMEIER GmbH & Co. KG has been your expert partner for the distribution of and technical advice in the application of chemical specialty products. We are an authorised partner of Momentive Performance Materials GmbH and distribute their products ranging from Baysilone®, Viscasil®, Formasil®, defoamers (SAG®, Sagtex®, AF), Silwet®, Magnasoft®, Silquest® and the new Silwet® Hydrostable® types. In addition, we can offer specialities from the area of SF and SM types.
We are not merely a purely specialist dealer, but we formulate a number of proprietary silicone products under the name KORASILON® and KORATECT®. This includes:
Brief description
In some industrial processes foam is desired and necessary, but troublesome in many applications and to be avoided at all costs.
Kurt Obermeier GmbH & Co. KG offers a wide range of defoamers from various manufacturers and from proprietary developments.
- Technical application advice is as part of the package as onsite plant trials.
- There is also a modern fully-equipped lab for extensive trials.
- Immediate samplings of potential defoamers enable you to effectively and cost-effectively take control of your foam problem.
Kurt Obermeier GmbH & Co. KG provides customised defoamer solutions for a wide variety of (process) technical issues.
Our range of silicone defoamers (under construction) is characterised by lower application quantities compared to mineral oil-based defoamers. The most modern silicone defoamers based on organically modified siloxanes exhibit improved compatibility with organic systems.
Product type / Types
Our silicone defoamers comprise the following:
Silicone-based defoamers (under construction)
- 100 % defoamers (under construction)
for use in formulations (e.g. cleaners, adhesives, detergents) as processing aids (distillation processes, process water, wastewater) or for the production of defoamer emulsions - Defoamer emulsions (under construction)
with a wide range of applications, including the areas of food technology, and biotechnology (FDA, Kosher, etc.), as process aids in pharmaceuticals and with special acid or alkali resistance and according to Regulation (EC) No 648/2004 (detergents regulation) - Solvent-based defoamers (under constructions) (under construction)
Defoamers based on organically modified siloxanes (under construction)
- Silicon-containing defoamers, which do not show typical incompatibility to silicone; for use in cooling lubricants, paints and coatings, electroplating and pickling solutions, or other silicone-critical applications. (under construction)

Brief description
We market polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and organically modified PDMS oils under the name Baysilone® and KORASILON®. By clicking on the PDF icon, you can obtain product information on individual oils from the following categories.
Because of their inorganic Si-O chemical bonding, polydimethylsiloxanes are in many ways comparable in their resistance with the chemically inert behaviour of silicate minerals.
PDMS oils are available in a viscosity range from 0.65 to 30,000,000 mm²/s and due to its variety of applications it is impossible to imagine our modern production without them.

Various problems can be experienced in the use of silicone oils, for example when a thin film of particularly high-viscosity silicone oils should be applied. For industrial hygiene and/or safety reasons, dilution with solvents can be excluded under certain circumstances. In these cases the active agent can be applied in emulsion form.
Silicone oil emulsions can be freely mixed with water and in many cases offer advantages in the application and processing. We not only offer you excellent already existing products in this field, but also our experience in application technology and production to find the optimal solution to your problem.
Oil emulsions – overview
Among others, silicone oil emulsions are used as:
Release agents
- Rubber and plastics industry
- Pressure die casting, precision casting
- Food packaging
Lubricating agents
- Gasket profiles (building/automotive industry)
- Web offset printing (printing industry)
- Rubber and plastics industry
Lubricants
- As a base or additive oil
Hydrophobing
- Glass or mineral wool
- Textiles, leather
Impregnation
- Masonry protection agent (refer to KORATECT ® silicone masonry protection)
Textile finishing
- Hydrophobic or hydrophilic plasticisers, yarn lubricating agents
Polishes and care products
- Leather, painted surfaces, wood surfaces
Besides the standard polydimethylsiloxane-based pastes, we also offer pastes based on organically modified siloxanes with organic or inorganic fillers.
Organically modified siloxane pastes are characterised by improved compatibility on surfaces, e.g. better recoatability, bonding, etc.
As opposed to silicone oils, pastes offer higher stability and adhesion to surfaces even in high temperature ranges.
Applications are for example
- Lubricating agents
- Lubricants
- Release agents
- Sealing media
- Damping media
Release agents are still indispensable aids with among others the following uses:
- Mould release agents
- Lubricating agents
- Lubricants and
- Installation aids
Our wide range of silicone-containing / silicone-free, water-based / solvent-based and hardening / non-hardening release agents allows us to find the optimal solution for every separation problem. Our KORASILON® release agents are easy and economical to apply and are characterised by rapid and sustained release effect without residues.
Following is a brief overview of our most important release agents. Depending on requirements, product variations or customer specific developments are possible in order to obtain the optimal solution to your separation problem.
General overview of release agents
Moisture is the main cause of almost all damage to mineral building materials.
Our KORATECT® masonry protection products provide hydrophobic protection to various substrates from and significantly reduce water absorption and the absorption of pollutants dissolved in it.
Thus, structural damage such as
- Corrosion of reinforced steel
- Efflorescence
- Salt breakout
- Frost/de-icing salt damage
- Algae, moss and mould infestation
is significantly reduced.
Through the treatment with KORATECT® masonry protection agents the diffusion capability/breathability of the building material is retained and the moisture can escape from the inside out. The use of KORATECT® masonry protection agents provide long-lasting and effective protection against structural damage, without changing the surface texture of the substrates.
